Surgical Support for Referring Practices

OrthoPet Pro provides surgical support to veterinary practices across Kent, Essex, Sussex and Greater London. Led by Dr Shahar Somer, the service focuses on small animal orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, working closely with referring veterinary teams. Need surgical support for a patient?

OrthoPet Pro works alongside veterinary practices that need additional surgical expertise for suitable cases. Where appropriate, procedures can be performed at the referring practice, supporting close communication between the surgeon and the primary care team.

Each case is reviewed individually. Surgical planning and practice requirements are discussed directly with the referring vet.

Veterinary Orthopaedic Surgery

We provide orthopaedic surgical support for suitable cases, working closely with the referring veterinary team.

TPLO Surgery for Dogs

TPLO is one of OrthoPet Pro’s key orthopaedic procedures. Referring practices can discuss suitable cases, including assessment, surgical planning and the arrangements for surgery.

How the Referral Process Works?

We aim to make the referral process clear and straightforward.

Discuss the case: The referring practice gets in touch to discuss the patient and the surgical requirement.
Assess the patient: The case is reviewed and the appropriate surgical approach is discussed with the veterinary team.
Plan the procedure: We work with the practice to arrange the procedure and prepare the patient for surgery.
Provide surgical support: Where appropriate, surgery takes place at the referring practice, with close coordination with the practice team.
Support ongoing care: After surgery, we communicate with the referring practice about the patient’s recovery and any ongoing care requirements.

Dr Shahar Somer, DVM, PGCert(SAS), GPAdvCert(SAOS), MRCVS

Founder and Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Dr Shahar Somer is an experienced veterinary surgeon focused on small animal orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery. He holds postgraduate qualifications in small animal surgery, including the GPAdvCert in Small Animal Orthopaedic Surgery.
He founded OrthoPet Pro to give veterinary practices access to experienced surgical support within their own clinical setting, where appropriate.
